About WorldSSP
The FIM Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) is the premier support class of the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK), showcasing highly modified, production-based mid-sized sports motorcycles. Established in 1997, the series serves as a crucial proving ground for world-class talent, featuring highly competitive bikes from major manufacturers like Yamaha, Ducati, Triumph, MV Agusta, and Kawasaki. The 2026 season features a grueling 12-round international calendar, delivering close-quarters, high-speed slipstreaming battles where riders trade paint on every corner.
Top teams
Championship glory in WorldSSP is a fierce battle of consistency, with Spain's Albert Arenas (AS bLU cRU Racing Team) currently leading the drivers' standings with 206 points. Pursuing him is Jaume Masià (Orelac Racing Verdnatura) with 166 points, French veteran Valentin Devise (Evan Bros Factory Team) at 163 points, and Turkish talent Can Öncü representing the legendary Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing squad with 137 points.
Format
The 2026 WorldSSP calendar comprises 12 international rounds spanning from February to October. Each round is structured as a double-header, starting with Friday practice and Superpole qualifying. Riders compete in Race 1 on Saturday and Race 2 on Sunday. Points are awarded to the top 15 finishers (25 for first, 20 for second, down to 1 point for 15th), requiring riders to balance raw speed with smart championship management to survive the long, demanding season.
