About World Rallycross Championship
Following the discontinuation of the FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX) after the 2025 season, the FIA European Rallycross Championship (Euro RX) has reverted to the absolute pinnacle of international rallycross in 2026. Featuring short-course sprint racing on mixed surfaces of asphalt and dirt, the series features 500-horsepower Supercars sliding, jumping, and trading paint across historic European venues. Alongside the six-round European tour, a standalone FIA Rallycross World Cup in Indonesia maintains a global presence for the sport, providing a high-octane spectacle of bumper-to-bumper racing.
Top teams
The battle for European supremacy features a stacked grid of rallycross legends, led by Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud who currently tops the RX1 standings with 65 points. Chasing him down is six-time World RX champion Johan Kristoffersson (KMS - Kristoffersson Motorsport) with 64 points, followed closely by Norwegian driver Ole Christian Veiby at 54 points and Finnish prodigy Joni Turpeinen with 53 points, creating a tight championship battle heading into the summer.
Format
The 2026 Euro RX calendar consists of six rounds across four categories (RX1, RX3, RX4, and RX5). Each event features Qualifying heats, Progression races, Semi-finals, and a winner-take-all 6-car Final. Drivers compete for championship points in each session, demanding a perfect combination of raw speed, physical durability, and clever spotter strategy to navigate the mandatory Joker Lap once per race.
Viewership
Rallycross commands a highly dedicated global viewership, packing historic dirt venues like Sweden's Höljesbanan and Lohéac in France with hundreds of thousands of fans. Digital streaming feeds capture the short, sharp 4-minute sprint races, delivering action-packed telemetry, in-car audio, and multi-angle camera feeds directly to motorsport fans around the world.
