About UEFA Conference League

The UEFA Conference League is Europe's third-tier club competition, sitting below the Champions League and Europa League. The 2025-26 season is the fifth edition of the tournament, which was introduced to give smaller clubs from less prominent football nations a platform in European competition. The league phase runs from October through December, with the knockout rounds taking place in early 2026. The final is scheduled for May 27, 2026 at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, Germany.

2025-26 season format

The tournament starts with qualifying rounds in July and August. 36 teams then enter a league phase, replacing the old group stage format. Each team plays six different opponents. The top eight teams advance directly to the round of 16. Teams finishing ninth through 24th enter the knockout phase play-offs. The bottom 12 teams are eliminated.
