About Canadian QMJHL

The Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) is one of the three leagues that make up the Canadian Hockey League. It covers Quebec and the Maritime provinces. The league runs from September through May, with the playoffs wrapping up in time for the Memorial Cup. The playoffs are in full swing, with teams battling for the league championship and a spot in the national tournament.

Top teams

The Halifax Mooseheads are the biggest draw in the league. They've got a passionate fan base and a history of producing NHL talent. The Quebec Remparts have a legendary history — Patrick Roy coached them for years. The Moncton Wildcats, Acadie-Bathurst Titan, and Gatineau Olympiques are regular playoff contenders. The league is known for high-scoring games and fast-paced action. The QMJHL style is different from the OHL and WHL — more offense, more room for skill guys to shine.

NHL prospects

The QMJHL is a major pipeline for the NHL. Brad Marchand, Nathan MacKinnon, and Jonathan Drouin all came through the league. Sidney Crosby played in the Q before he became a superstar. Every year, the draft has a bunch of QMJHL players in the first round. Scouts are at every game. The league is known for producing dynamic forwards and goalies who can handle a heavy workload.

Viewership

The QMJHL pulls between 1.5 and 2 million viewers annually. The numbers are strongest in Quebec and the Maritimes. The playoff games draw the biggest crowds and ratings. The Memorial Cup, when a QMJHL team is hosting or in it, gets national attention. Outside the region, the audience is mostly hardcore hockey fans and NHL scouts. The league doesn't have the national profile it once did, but it's still a big deal in the communities where teams are based.

Streaming options

There's no regular TV deal for the QMJHL. The games are all on CHL TV. That's the official streaming service for the Canadian Hockey League. You can buy a season pass for a specific team or for the whole league. It's available in Canada, the US, and most other countries. The platform has every regular season game, every playoff game, and the Memorial Cup. It's where scouts watch, and it's where hardcore fans go to follow their local club.

International viewing

CHL TV works globally. If you're in the US, Europe, or anywhere else, you can subscribe and watch every game. The platform is used by NHL scouts, European scouts, and fans who want to track prospects. There are no blackouts. No regional restrictions. The picture quality is solid, and the commentary is usually the local broadcast feed. For anyone who wants to follow junior hockey outside Canada, this is the only option.

Current season

The 2025-26 QMJHL season kicked off in September 2025. The regular season wrapped up in March, and the playoffs are happening now in April. The second round is underway, with the semifinals scheduled for later this month. The league championship final is set for May. The winner goes to the Memorial Cup against the champions of the OHL and WHL plus a host team. The Mooseheads are the defending QMJHL champs after winning the title last season.
